Part-Time/Summer Title I Program Teacher - Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Summer school teacher for youth residing at the Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan (TFH) facility. There will be approximately 4-6 students participating in the 2025 Summer Program. TFH staff will provide additional support and assist with behavior management. The program schedule is as follows (tentatively):
- Start/End Date: June 16, 2025 - August 15, 2025 (dates are approximate; there is potential for some flexibility)
- Other Details: Start and end date are for preparation and record keeping, respectively
- Weekly Schedule: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Tuesday - Thursday
- Total Contract: 22 days (66 hours)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:
- Valid Michigan Teacher’s Certificate with elementary or secondary endorsement
- Meets Michigan Highly Qualified Teacher Standards for this teaching position
- Ability to individualize and differentiate instruction
- Ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working special education students
- Experience working with youth with significant mental health needs
- Knowledge of content area K-12 academics, daily living skills, and behavioral intervention plans/functional behavioral analysis
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to create experiential learning opportunities for diverse learners
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement daily lesson plans
- Keep accurate records of attendance and student progress
- Maintain frequent communication with Teaching Family Homes personnel
- Perform other duties as assigned
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Teaching site - Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan: Marquette location
- Perform position duties and functions while upholding confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information
- Regular and reliable attendance is required
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time position. between June 16 and August 15, 2025. Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to perform the functions of the position.
REPORTS TO: Marquette-Alger RESA Program Administrator for Specialised Classrooms
SALARY & BENEFITS: Per Marquette-Alger RESA Education Association (MEA) Bargaining Agreement
