SUMMARY:
Performs accounts payable duties for the Marquette-Alger RESA (the Agency) and the Talent Together grant initiative, conducts bank reconciliations, processes chargebacks, assists with maintaining current transparency data on Agency website, and completes driver license checks. Responsible for payroll and related duties for several small local education agencies (LEAs) and the Agency.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four years of related bookkeeping/office experience
  • Post-secondary experience or degree in relevant area preferred
  • Possess the ability to:
    •  Organize short and long term projects
    • Establish and maintain filing systems (physical and electronic)
    • Problem-solve and apply principles of logical thinking
    • Accurately complete fiscal procedures (e.g., generating POs, invoicing, coding expenses)
  • Proficiency with software/applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Zoom 
  • Strong accounting or finance background
  • Excellent filing and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Professional attitude and appearance
     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform accounts payable duties such as entering bills, running checks, and following up on uncashed
  • checks for Marquette-Alger RESA, Talent Together, and some LEAs
  • Conduct bank reconciliations for Marquette-Alger RESA, Talent Together, and some LEAs
  • Verify and run 1099s for Marquette-Alger RESA, Talent Together, and some LEAs
  • Complete payroll for several small LEAs according to deadlines set by payroll schedule
  • Make federal and state tax payments for Talent Together and several small LEAs
  • Maintain and verify reports with the Office of Retirement Services (ORS) for the Agency, Talent Together and
  • several small LEAs; make corrections as needed
  • Make ORS payments for the Agency, Talent Together and several small LEAs
  • Create and post annual mandated reports on Marquette-Alger RESA website; periodically update information
  • to Marquette-Alger RESA website transparency page
  • Produce invoices as requested by Agency administrative assistants; follow up on past due invoices
  • Create disbursement and board voucher reports for monthly Board of Education meetings
  • Process chargebacks for postage, printing, and phone costs
  • File journal entries/checks for Marquette-Alger RESA, Talent Together and several small LEAs
  • Perform driver license checks for new employees, bus drivers, and substitute bus drivers
  • Assist Chief Financial Officer with compiling and formatting information for special projects
  • Order supplies for the business office
  • Reserve conference rooms and assist with ordering food for meetings
  • Perform general administrative / clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing
  • Interact with the public in a positive, courteous, and professional manner via email, phone, and in person
  • Provide front desk coverage as requested/assigned
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Demonstrated experience exercising confidentiality and sound judgment in dealing with local districts, staff, students, and operations
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain proactive communication with stakeholders
  • Ability to deal with issues in a fair manner, treat diverse populations and personalities with dignity and respect, and act in a highly ethical manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment yet maintain flexibility in thinking and actions 
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; highly skilled with Excel and/or Google Sheets

  • Must consistently perform duties and functions thoroughly, accurately, and with strong attention to detail

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time, grant funded position. Must have regular and reliable job attendance,
performance, and the physical ability to do the job

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: According to Marquette-Alger RESA ESP Collective Bargaining Agreement. Starting wages are $17.98-20.24/hour.
