MATMC Student Success Technician
SUMMARY:
The MATMC Student Success Technician will maintain all Marquette-Alger Technical Middle College (MATMC) student success data and assist the MATMC Early College Specialist in providing academic, social, and emotional support for MATMC students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of MATMC students
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of MATMC curriculum implementation, learning management system, success seminars, and community events
- Input and report student data, providing monthly reports to the MATMC staff
- Assist with maintenance of a dashboard to monitor the college and career readiness, and the high school and college graduation status, of all middle college students
- Maintain appropriate documentation and notes of student interactions, referrals, and resources for quality service delivery and in alignment with funding source requirements
- Partner with students on the creation and implementation of an Individual Development Plan that builds upon and enhances their high school Individual Education Plan and Talent Portfolios
- Assist students individually and in small groups; coordinate the delivery of high school and college student support services, college textbooks, and technology
- Communicate and conduct check-ins regularly with students using a variety of media based on students’ needs
- Follow-up with graduates at least monthly for at least one year for the purposes of successful transitioning to college and/or career and data collection
- Provide assistance with dual enrollment college applications, orientation, and enrollment for middle college students
- Assist Early Middle College Coordinator with facilitation to ensure each middle college student has the opportunity to achieve 100 hours of community service and 40 hours of work-based learning
- Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations and conferences related to the Early/Middle College System which requires travel to Flint, Lansing, and Detroit
- Provide support in the design and development of social media, brochures, and other informational media to promote the middle college
- Create audio-visual presentations as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Experience with data entry, data tracing, and report preparation
- Knowledge of data reporting systems
- Prior experience working with high school students
- Prior experience with student support services
- Proficient in technology skills including word processing, spreadsheet use, google suite, and marketing via social media
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively orchestrate multiple activities/projects simultaneously
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and be part of a team
- Ability to serve students, staff, and the public pleasantly and efficiently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong institutional knowledge of Northern Michigan University (NMU) and local school districts
- Experience with at-risk and underrepresented populations
- Experience with students with diverse backgrounds and barriers
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Must keep the affairs of MARESA and local districts confidential at all times
- Must uphold confidentiality of privileged and sensitive student/staff information
- Requires some evening and weekend hours for meetings and special events
- Occasional overnight travel downstate for conferences and activities of professional organizations
- Regular and reliable attendance is required
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time position; Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job
